Interviewing Someone, or Pursuing Something New?

Five essential questions

If you are searching for your next carrier or business opportunity, it will be helpful for you to know what it is specifically that you are really interested in pursuing.

  1. Begin with 5 things you are excited about. In other words, how will your new opportunity be something you can’t wait to get up in the morning to do?
  2. Five things you want to avoid.
  3. How much money/benefits do you currently need? (Be practical and honest)
  4. How much money/benefits do you really want? (Be honest and realistic)
  5. Providing that you contribute to the growth of the business success of either your future employer or your next venture, what would you expect to be doing in one, two and three years.

These key questions can also apply to new candidates you may be interviewing for a new position.

For over 30 years, John has used these questions to identify potentially unengaged employees and support entrepreneurs pursuing new opportunities.
